Black Metal Goes Surfing Emperor Style
A YouTube user who calls himself MrMeddled has posted an outrageously amazing surf rock version of Emperor's black metal song 'I am the Black Wizard.' Almost as entertaining as the interpretation/transformation is the accompanying text, which reads in part:

'Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' Star Says She's 'Done' With Lisbeth Salander
'I've moved on and I don't want to repeat myself,' she says of the Swedish adaptations of Stieg Larsson's 'Millennium' trilogy.By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz

There's probably a country somewhere in the world where Stieg Larsson's "Millennium" trilogy hasn't become a best-seller. For years, the Swedish author's crime thrillers — starting with "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and concluding with "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" — have been flying out of bookstores all over the world.
But as Larsson fans know, the series about journalist Mikael Blomkvist and hacker Lisbeth Salander may not be over. Though Larsson died in 2004, he reportedly completed three-quarters of a fourth "Millennium" book, and he may have even started on a fifth.
The first three novels have already been made into Swedish films; in those movies, Salander was portrayed by Noomi Rapace, an actress now co-starring in the sequel to "Sherlock Holmes" and rumored to be up for the "Alien" prequel.
Though the "Millennium" films have launched Rapace to international stardom, she has vowed never again to play Salander, even if films were to be crafted from Larsson's other manuscripts.
"It's done. I'm done with her," she told MTV News while promoting "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest." "I did everything I could and she was in my life very strong for one and a half years, and then I left her. I've moved on and I don't want to repeat myself."
Stepping into the role of a character who has become something of a folk hero in Sweden was no easy task: She spent more than half a year learning to kickbox and ride a motorcycle, and she had to overhaul her eating habits to more closely resemble the small-framed Salander.
"When I was preparing, I did a lot of physical things and I felt like she was coming," Rapace explained. "I didn't want to force her. ... I drove a lot of motorcycles and I was on a diet, so my body changed slowly into her. Then I felt like she was coming. It was like small puzzle pieces that came into the right places."
Rapace is ready to turn the page.
"[Larsson] wrote three books and no one really knows how much there really is," she said. "There's a lot of rumors and I feel like it's better to leave it and say, 'This is it, OK, bye, now I'm off to something else and to new things.' "

Celebrate Wendy O. Williams' Birthday With Bobblehead Doll

Ozzy Osbourne, Yusuf Islam Duel At Jon Stewart Rally
The O'Jays also hit the stage at Stewart and Stephen Colbert's 'Rally to Restore Sanity And/Or Fear.'By Mawuse Ziegbe

Thousands of fans crowded the National Mall in Washington DC Saturday (October 30) for Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's "Rally to Restore Sanity And/Or Fear," and the two politician-skewering funnymen trotted out a slew of legends to entertain the crowd.
About midway through the show, which already featured a nearly 40-minute set from John Legend and The Roots, Stewart announced the next performer, Yusuf Islam. The folk icon formerly known as Cat Stevens, hit the stage with an acoustic rendition of "Peace Train." However, instead of letting Yusuf placidly strum along, Colbert stormed the stage, ranting about the song's message of harmony. The satirical pundit then proclaimed, "My train is arriving at the stage now and the conductor has an important announcement to make!"
Colbert did a fine job of busting up the performance, and cleared the way for a surprise appearance from one of rock and roll's greatest show-stoppers: Ozzy Osbourne. Decked out in a black ensemble with his signature colored glasses, the Prince of Darkness screamed as he took the stage and led the band through the metal classic "Crazy Train."
However, before Osbourne could finish, Stewart snatched the mic and reprised the whole interrupting-the-rock-legend-thing, spewing protests like, "I will not get on that train! I am not comfortable on that train!" Stewart commanded Yusuf to start up again with "Peace Train," until Colbert jumped in, saying, "I'm gonna pull the emergency brake on this rainbow, moonbeam choo-choo!" Osbourne and Yusuf went back and forth, volleying metal and folk classics about trains, until both gave up the fight, embraced each other and left the stage.
But the audience wasn't left without a stellar performance from some music legends. Colbert and Stewart paced about, lamenting the lack of singers to belt train-related hits, until a line from the smooth chorus of the O'Jays "Love Train" wafted through the air.
"Is that the sound of Philadelphia?" Stewart wondered.
Colbert queried, "Was that the sweet Philly soul?"
It sure was. The legendary soul group then took the stage in slick white suits, busting easy throwback moves to their 1973 single to the delight of the crowd.

Ke$ha Talks VMA Garbage Bag Ensemble, Lady Gaga's Meat Suit
'It was amazing. I got to wear a garbage bag on national TV,' singer says.By Kyle Anderson, with reporting by Kara Warner
Ke$ha
Photo: Jason LaVeris/ FilmMagic
Even if they didn't walk away with Moonmen, just about everybody who attended the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards exited the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles a winner. Taylor Swift started some buzz with new music, and Paramore's Hayley
Williams finally got to do a live tag-team with B.o.B. Another winner in spirit? Ke$ha, whose first visit to the VMAs was a positive one.
"It was amazing. I got to wear a garbage bag on national TV," Ke$ha gushed on the red carpet at the premiere of the second season for the HBO show "Eastbound and Down." "It was fun. It was good. And I got nominated for four, and it was a dream come true just to be there."
The 23-year-old singer, who did indeed wear a dress made from garbage bags, was impressed with the level of fashion experimentation at this year's show. "It was fun. I think everybody was having fun with it," she said. However, she is not entirely sure she would be able to take the steps that Lady Gaga did with her head-turning meat-based ensemble. "I don't know if I could actually put raw meat on me," she admitted.
With the VMAs behind her, Ke$ha is working on a new album, but was mostly excited to get out and support her favorite show on television. "I don't watch TV, but this show I connect with on a really deep level," she said. "I kind of feel like I'm the female version of Danny McBride: Kind of white trash, just ready to party."
The Moonmen have all been handed out and the stars have gone home, but there's plenty of 2010 MTV Video Music Awards news, interviews, behind-the-scenes scoop, party reports and more still to come, so keep it locked on MTVNews.com.

Lady Gaga, Elton John Record Duet For 'Gnomeo & Juliet'
'Hello, Hello' will appear on the animated Disney film's soundtrack, reports 'Entertainment Weekly.'By Gil Kaufman

Photo: Christopher Polk/ Getty Images
Elton John and Lady Gaga have been carrying on a torrid mutual-admiration affair for much of the past year. The two pop icons have shared the stage several times and often have spoken highly of each other, but now they're ready to take it to the next level.
According to "Entertainment Weekly," the dynamic piano duo are planning on releasing a duet called "Hello, Hello" on the soundtrack to the forthcoming animated Disney film "Gnomeo & Juliet." The magazine describes the tune as "a charming pop track," and reports that it will be heard when the movie's two lead characters — lawn ornaments voiced by James McAvoy and Emily Blunt, respectively — first meet.
"Gnomeo & Juliet," produced by Sir Elton and his longtime partner, David Furnish, is slated to premiere on February 11, 2011.
While John has hinted that he'd love to appear on Gaga's upcoming Born This Way album, even if he doesn't, he's already given it his glittering stamp of approval.
"I've already heard [Gaga's new album], so I think it's more or less done," he told "EW" earlier this month. "Her record — it's f---ing amazing." He added that he was particularly enamored with one tune, saying, " 'Born This Way,' which is the title song, will completely get rid of Gloria Gaynor's 'I Will Survive.' This is the new 'I Will Survive.' That was the gay anthem. This is the new gay anthem. Actually, it's not a gay anthem — it can apply to anybody."
While John is an old hand at movie soundtracks — including his Oscar-winning work on "The Lion King," as well as music for "The Road to El Dorado" — the "Gnomeo" song will be Gaga's first original contribution to a film.

Kristen Stewart Discusses The Effects Of Doing 'Crazy' Press
'It gets a little tiring, and it shows,' she admits to MTV News.By Eric Ditzian
Kristen Stewart
Photo: MTV News
It's not that easy to be Kristen Stewart in the midst of a virtual nonstop global promo tour for a "Twilight" film: the same questions over and over again, cities blending into one another, a seemingly endless stream of red carpets, rapid-fire junket interviews and extended sit-down chats.
"It gets crazy when it's so much," Stewart told us in, yes, an extended sit-down chat, "and it seems to be growing."
No doubt. At least she'll have a long break between "Twilight" releases: "Eclipse" hit theaters this summer, and the first part of "Breaking Dawn" won't arrive until November 2011. Rest up, KStew, so you don't find your eyes glazing over as reporters hurl questions about Bella Swan's sex romp of a honeymoon or her gruesome birth scene.
"Sometimes that happens, and it's really not good," she admitted. "It gets a little tiring, and it shows. But I think that's only natural."
Yet when it comes to promoting "Welcome to the Rileys," her indie flick about a teen stripping and turning tricks in New Orleans, Stewart is more than happy to make the PR rounds.
"Today is really exciting, because I didn't think I was going to have the opportunity to talk about 'Welcome to the Rileys,' " she said. "I thought this movie was going to do nothing, basically. This is fun. This is really, really cool."
A little less cool, however, is doing an interview next to famously press-shy co-star James Gandolfini. "I'm about to do two interviews with him," Stewart told us. "He's making me nervous. If he's nervous and he's uncomfortable, he's going to suck me right into it."

'Glee' Britney Spears Episode Slammed By Parents Television Council
Group describes show as 'an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque.'By James Dinh

Photo: FOX
Last week's episode of "Glee" found Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) shouting, "It's a Britney Spears sex riot!" as she attempted to put a stop to the glee club's saucy rendition of "Toxic."
But she's not the only one who had an issue with the Spears takeover at William McKinley High School. The hit Fox show has come under fire as the Parents Television Council has deemed the "Britney/Brittany" episode the "Worst TV Show of the Week" due to the broadcast's "explicit sexual content."
A message posted on the organization's website decries the episode's "skimpy outfits" and "sultry grinds" during "I'm a Slave 4 U." And even though "Glee" castmembers show very little skin in the re-creation for the 2001 Madonna duet "Me Against the Music," the PTC said the interpretation included "plenty of girl-girl bumping and grinding."
According to the group, the tribute to the always-controversial Spears wasn't appropriate because the singer is far from a suitable role model.
"Glee earned its highest ratings ever with this Britney Spears tribute, drawing 13.3 million viewers," the message continued. "A scary thought considering that the mostly young teen/tween audience basically witnessed an endorsement of narcotics abuse, public masturbation, and school-sanctioned burlesque. But perhaps most troubling is the deification of a troubled pop star into a symbol of empowerment and self-esteem. Considering her stints in rehab, her very public breakdowns, and her questionable parenting skills, there is absolutely no way Spears should be considered a role model. The producers of the show can spare us the old song-and-dance about fallen celebs turning their lives around. What's next? Portraying Ike Turner as a reformed feminist?"
Spears knows controversy and criticism far too well. Since the beginning of her career, she's always raised eyebrows with everything from her sex-kitten public image to her sometimes-questionable parental judgment. While the pop star has played it relatively safe since her comeback, the singer did make headlines last year for her suggestive single "If U Seek Amy," the third offering from her album Circus.

Lady Gaga's forthcoming album Born This Way is apparently her "bold and beautiful" "freedom album." During a Monster Ball concert stop in Oslo, the singer opened up a bit more about the record, which she's still working on.
"I am this week in the studio in Norway. ... The guys that ran the studio, they were all from Oslo and they were so nice to me," she told the crowd while sitting at her piano before "Speechless."
Describing the record as "really a very special thing," the singer talked a bit more about why she was working on it while on tour. She said, "People say to me, 'Why don't you wait until the tour is over to finish your album?' and I'll say, 'First off, all my fans are not going to wait that long. I have to keep my fans happy. But secondly, I get so much inspiration every night when I get to be here with you.' And then after the show I drink a bottle of Jameson."
She's been active on Twitter as well, posting a photo of her at a piano that is captioned: "Miss you so little monsters. Been working so hard for you. I can't wait for u to hear the new music." Another tweet included a photo of the singer wearing boots, pants and a skimpy top while sitting on a mixing board, a notebook and a pen in hand. The caption: "I'm on a heater, but this record ain't about poker."
Gaga announced the title of Born This Way during the Video Music Awards in September.

JWoww Critiques 'Jersey Shore' Halloween Costumes
She weighs in on Halloween looks for Snooki, DJ Pauly D and the Situation.By Jocelyn Vena
JWoww
Photo: Jenny McCoy/MTV News
Halloween is almost here, and as the stars of "Jersey Shore" gather for their reunion special Thursday night (October 27), fans have another chance to check out their looks for costume inspiration.
When JWoww stopped by the MTV News offices recently, we got her to rate some of the costumes of her "Shore" pals available in stores. She liked them, but had some key advice for anyone with enough courage to wear them.
Snooki
JWoww's Advice: "I love it! The only thing with you is, we need to bronze you! That's about it. ... It's pretty on-point. The poof, everything!"
The Situation
JWoww's Advice: "You're a little too tall. He doesn't have glasses either. We need to put sunglasses on you, and there you go!"
DJ Pauly D
JWoww's Advice: "I like it! [No] glasses, though! And he is very, very dark ... tan. I don't understand why they wouldn't make this tan, and Mike's. It's Pauly! I like the tattoos. Do they have the Cadillac [symbol] on the inside? No. I like it."
Vinny
JWoww's Advice: "Vinny has the look. It's not like the costume. It's the look, so he has the one eyebrow, like the Ace Ventura. It's all about that with the glasses. Depending on him right now, he's a little pale, so you don't have to worry about the tan," she laughed. "Love you, Vinny!"
JWoww
JWoww's Advice: Don't buy the costume! Why? "You know, there's just upper body and things!"
And of all the celebrities we asked about "Jersey Shore" costumes, most preferred Snooki. Audrina Patridge, Aubrey O'Day and Stephanie Pratt were all about the look. "Snooki's the easiest, so probably Snookers," Pratt laughed. "I love the poof. I love the hair teasing. I don't know why it has a bad rep. Whenever I get my hair done, I'm like, 'Tease it!' "

Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover
Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.By Gil Kaufman

Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.
The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.

Alicia Keys Says Son Egypt Inspiring New Music
'I feel a song coming on,' singer blogs after gushing about newborn with husband Swizz Beatz.By Mawuse Ziegbe

It looks like motherhood has already inspired Alicia Keys, who gave birth to her son, Egypt, earlier this month.
The Grammy-winning singer took to her blog on Tuesday to extol the joys of being a mom and hinted that some new music could be inspired by her growing family, in a post titled "I Feel a Song Coming On."
"Every moment is beautiful; delicious even! Every moment I'm learning and living in a way I never have before. Being present in a way I never have before. Existing in moments I never have before," Keys wrote. "Never have I felt so calm, so purposeful in taking the time to truly observe the world around me, to live in it fully and watch it, discuss it, put time toward it. It feels really incredible — so peaceful, so complete and long overdue."
The songstress, who got hitched to super-producer Swizz Beatz over the summer, typed about how motherhood made her feel, saying, "I'm grown, I'm confident, I'm secure, and so blessed to be these things."
While she didn't mention her firstborn child with Beatz specifically, she seemed incredibly moved by even the minutiae of the couple's infant.
"I'm most enamored with anatomy at this point. The miracle of the human body. The ability to create all these small amazing machines of veins, capillaries, digestive systems, eyes, ears and noses," she wrote. "I can spend HOURS looking at one little EAR! Have u ever noticed how complex just an ear is? A tiny maze of art. It may sound silly but it's so true. Or a heartbeat? Everyday we wake up and in some way, take for granted the fact that this beautiful pulsating organ in our body is the reason, and yet now that's all I can think of."
Keys continued the gushfest, writing, "I've never seen a more beautiful face in my LIFE! The most perfect eyes and beautiful nose, the sweetest lips and skin so soft and kissable!"
The songbird closed the missive suggesting that Egypt may inspire some new music from the chart-topping star. "I've never believed in greatness and the never-ending Higher Power more than now! And I can't believe he's mine!" she typed. "Oooh! I feel a song coming on ..."

'Avatar' Sequels: Everything We Know So Far
James Cameron and co. have given us hints about the return to Pandora for the second and third movies.By Eric Ditzian
Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington in "Avatar"
Photo: 20th Century Fox
The voyage from Earth to Pandora takes about six years. It looks like James Cameron will only need five to return to "Avatar." The writer/director has officially set up two "Avatar" sequels as his next projects, with the first arriving in December 2014 and the second opening in December 2015.
"[W]e will not back off the throttle of 'Avatar's' visual and emotional horsepower, and will continue to explore its themes and characters," Cameron said in a statement on Wednesday morning (October 27).
Themes and characters, you say? Well, that's not terribly revealing at all. Thankfully, Cameron and his cohorts have previously spilled details about what we can expect from the upcoming installments of "Avatar." Here's everything we know so far about the sequels.
Exploring Oceans and Other Planets
We got a taste of Pandora's marine world when Sam Worthington's Jake Sully plunged down a waterfall, but the plot took place almost exclusively on the ground and in the air. According to Cameron, "Avatar 2" will plunge into Pandora's oceans.
"Part of my focus in the second film is in creating a different environment — a different setting within Pandora," he said. "And I'm going to be focusing on the ocean on Pandora, which will be equally rich and diverse and crazy and imaginative, but it just won't be a rainforest."
Cameron later told MTV News that he plans to film footage underwater to capture what will become Pandora's oceans. "I think what we should do there is — because we'll have to have characters that are in and under the water — is that we should actually capture them underwater," Cameron told MTV News. "It's not the same as going diving, but I like to keep my diving, which I do for pleasure, separate from work."
While "Avatar" focused strictly on Pandora, an alien moon, "Avatar 3" will likely begin to explore other planets. "We created a broad canvas for the environment of film," Cameron has said. "That's not just on Pandora, but throughout the Alpha Centauri AB system. And we expand out across that system [in subsequent films] and incorporate more into the story — not necessarily in the second film, but more toward a third film."
Jake and Neytiri — and Maybe Grace — Return
At the end of "Avatar," Jake ends up abandoning his human body and transferring his consciousness to his Na'vi avatar, allowing him finally to be truly together with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). The next two films will continue to tell their story.
"We'll follow Jake and Neytiri," Cameron told us.
Who else will return? Sigourney Weaver's character, scientist Grace Augustine, appeared to die toward the end of the film. But Weaver has said we shouldn't assume Grace won't pop up in some form in the sequels.
"It's always a mistake in science fiction to make these judgments on the dead," Weaver told MTV News "You didn't really see her die. What you saw was ... something happen. I think that [James Cameron] wants all of this to be a surprise, but don't buy the funeral wreath quite yet."
The Development Process So Far
In his statement, Cameron announced he will begin writing the sequels early next year. We already know he's got a hefty head start on the process. He's written hundreds of pages of notes about where the story will go.
"I have a trilogy-scaled arc of story right now, but I haven't really put any serious work into writing a script," he told us in December 2009.
And just because the scripts have not been finished does not mean preproduction cannot begin. They'll begin work on creature and environment development "as soon as Jim locks in on some of those notes," producer Jon Landau explained to us. "We don't have to wait for a script for that. And there are also certain things we designed from the last movie that didn't make it in that I'm sure will make it in on the next movie."

Ke$ha To Return With Cannibal On November 22
Animal companion will feature eight new songs.By James Montgomery
Ke$ha
Photo: Jon Kopaloff/ Getty Images
Taking a page from Lady Gaga's playbook, Ke$ha will return November 22 with Cannibal, a nine-song "companion" to her platinum-plus debut disc Animal that, like Gaga's The Fame Monster, will be sold both as a standalone album and as part of a deluxe reissue.
According to a press release sent Wednesday (October 13) by her label, RCA, Cannibal will feature eight brand-new songs — produced by the likes of Max Martin, Benny Blanco and Bangladesh — and a new remix. The first single from the mini-album, "We R Who We R," is scheduled to hit radio Thursday.
Cannibal is set to be released both on its own and bundled with Ke$h's Animal disc in a reissue called — fittingly enough — Animal + Cannibal. And if the whole thing sounds rather, well, ravenous, well, that's pretty much what the singer had in mind.
"This year has been carnivorous and life-changing. I have my rowdy, gorgeous fans to thank for taking me on the ride of a lifetime," she said in a statement. "My only goal with this record is to keep them dancing. The songs on Cannibal were made to inspire people to ignore any hate or judgment and be themselves unapologetically. It's the perfect companion to Animal and I hope you guys like it. And if you don't like it — bite me."
Well, OK then. The announcement of Cannibal comes one day after the news that Ke$ha had been nominated for three American Music Awards — more than any artist not named Eminem, Justin Bieber and Lady Antebellum. The AMAs will air November 21, one day before Ke$ha's albums hit stores.
Will you pick up Ke$ha's new music? Let us know in the comments!

Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' Trailer: How Does It Stack Up?
Pop star's concert doc promo is similar to the Jonas Brothers' and Michael Jackson's.By Eric Ditzian

"My name is Justin. This is how I drum."
Thus begins the trailer for "Never Say Never," Justin Bieber's 3-D concert documentary. That first clip isn't the only footage of the 16-year-old pop star back in his formative years. From vintage looks at Biebs tickling the ivories to grainy video of him strumming the guitar on some steps, the trailer tells the unlikely story of how a small-town Canadian kid beat the odds to become an international superstar.
It's an interesting narrative technique, one with both points of convergence to, and deviation from, previous concert doc trailers. As we gear up for the film's Valentine's Day release, it's time to size up the "Never Say Never" trailer in the context of what's come before it.
"Michael Jackson's This Is It"
At least in terms of its box-office draw, MJ's posthumous, $261 million-grossing flick is the concert doc against which all others must be measured. The trailers for "This Is It" and "Never Say Never" both feature some epic zooming title cards, lots of acrobatic dancers, crews saying nice things about the stars and an emphasis on attaining your dreams.
Yet, seeing as how MJ passed away last summer and Bieber's just getting started, the two trailers take markedly different approaches to telling the stories of those dreams. MJ's trailer feels like a look back at the final act in an iconic, if controversial, superstar's life. Bieber's trailer is more about establishing a young star's legacy.
"Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert"
Cyrus' approach to her trailer couldn't be more different than Bieber's. The Disney star starts off talking directly to the camera, hyping the upcoming movie and highlighting the presence of the Jonas Brothers. It's a much more in-your-face marketing approach, and one that feels dated just a few years later. Still, Bieber probably wouldn't complain about equaling Cyrus' $30 million opening weekend.
"Madonna: Truth or Dare
OK, you know what's even further away from Bieber's trailer in tone and content than Cyrus'? Madonna's! She wonders if a guy she likes just wants to sleep with her and if she'll be able to pull off an in-concert masturbation scene. And then there's the whole cone-bra bustier thing. There is, however, at least one point of similarity: the Queen of Pop's opening lines, when she talks about being in the spotlight, being worshiped by fans, and having lots and lots of money. Sounds a lot like Bieber's life at the moment, no?
"Shine a Light"
While "Shine a Light" is a documentary about a Rolling Stones concert, director Martin Scorsese plays almost as big a role in the trailer as Mick Jagger. "Never Say Never" helmer Jon Chu, alas, is never seen in Bieber's trailer. That's probably for the best. But like the "Never Say Never" trailer, "Shine a Light" employs the use of archival footage to put the current-day concert in context and showcases the artists doing what they do best: rocking out.
"Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience"
Screaming fans? Check. Massive stage productions? Check. Behind-the-scenes peeks at your idols? Check. There's even Joe Jonas tooling around on a Segway, just like Bieber. Yep, of all the concert movie trailers we surveyed, the JoBros' is the most similar to "Never Say Never." Let's just hope Bieber's movie does a little better at the box office. The brothers' 3-D flick made a paltry $19 million domestically.

Beyonce's Mom Denies Pregnancy Rumors
Tina Knowles tells Ellen DeGeneres that her daughter is not pregnant.By Gil Kaufman

Not so fast. By now, the Knowles family is used to the constant rumors about Beyoncé's reported pregnancies. But in an unusual move, the singer's mother, Tina Knowles, is slated to appear on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on Thursday to refute the latest claims.
The latest round of whispers started earlier this week when Us Magazine, citing an unnamed source, reported that the 29-year-old star was expecting her first child with hubby and fellow mogul Jay-Z.
But according to a clip of Thursday's show obtained by gossip site TMZ, Tina Knowles flatly denied those stories. "I heard that, but I'm here to clear the rumors up. The truth is it's not Beyoncé that's pregnant, it's me," she jokingly told Ellen. "No, it's not true. Not right now. I'm looking forward to it. With all the rumors, by now I should have about five or six grandchildren."
Tina does have one grandchild so far, 6-year-old Daniel Julez Smith, the son of her youngest daughter Solange.
Before the denial, Us reported that a source said, "B was shocked. She loves kids, but she wasn't ready to be a mother just yet ... She really wanted to get her album done and tour the world again." Another unnamed source claimed the singer was in her first trimester and that she considered the pregnancy "a gift from God and she's so happy."
This is the second time this year that a rumor has surfaced about Beyoncé being pregnant. In March, her representatives quickly shot down reports that Beyoncé was pregnant.
The couple, who married in 2008, have always kept their private life private, but Beyoncé has been open to talking about motherhood. Earlier this year, she spoke to Allure about the prospect of being a mother. "I definitely want to have a child, but I know from my nephew it's a lot. I hope that those things will just happen naturally. I still haven't had time to relax," she said.

Does Lady Gaga Guest Star On Rihanna's Loud?
Image of forthcoming album's back cover allegedly leaks online, contains collaboration called "Broken Heels."By James Montgomery
Lady Gaga
Photo: Chris Gordon/ WireImage
Separately, Rihanna and Lady Gaga have tallied more #1s on the Billboard Pop Songs chart than any other artists, so you can probably imagine what would happen if they were ever to team up on a track.
Well, forget about the imagine part. From the looks of things, RiRi and Gaga are joining forces on Rihanna's upcoming album Loud.
This is according to what appears to be the official track listing for Loud, which was revealed in a scan of its back cover that began making the rounds Wednesday (October 13).
That track listing contains a song called "Broken Heels," on which Gaga is featured. Other cameos on the album include Rihanna's almost-tourmate Nicki Minaj (on a track called "Raining Men"), will.i.am ("Bubble Pop") and — confirming earlier reports — Drake, who guests on "What's My Name?"
It's all very exciting. But is any of it actually real? Well, it bears noting that all of the tracks mentioned in Just Jared's early review of the album ("S&M," "Cheers," "Man Down," "California King (Bed)," "Fading Away" and "Raining Men") do show up on the back cover in question ... but it also bears noting that the ballad "Straight Up Beautiful," which Rihanna herself mentioned just last week, does not.
Fans will have to wait until November 16, when Loud hits stores, to find out for sure. At press time, a spokesperson for Rihanna had not responded to MTV News' request for comment on the Gaga collaboration.

'Social Network' Star Armie Hammer On Newfound Fame, Oscar Hype
'The reaction we've been getting is insane,' actor tells MTV News.By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Armie Hammer
Photo: MTV News
David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin were convinced they could find two Adonis-esque twins with acting chops. "The Social Network" director and the film's scribe thought for sure two such actors were somewhere out there, and that each would be able to play one of the film's real-life Winklevoss twins. But as the start of production approached, they finally had to scrap that notion and opt for just one Adonis — and a whole lot of CGI trickery.
"They were looking for twins for a long time," said Armie Hammer, the 24-year-old who got, well, both jobs. "The process for me was a little easier. I think I came along when they were starting to get desperate, and they were like, 'We just need someone who's 6'5,' and I'm like, 'I'm 6'5,' and they were like, 'Perfect!' "
It wasn't the first time Hammer found himself in a wacky casting position. Back in 2007, he was tapped to play Batman in "Justice League," only to see the film collapse in the midst of the writers' strike and an inability to get a tax break from the Australian government. This time around, he kept his job — and he's being talked about as a potential Oscar nominee in the Best Supporting Actor category. His public profile, needless to say, has never been higher.
"The reaction we've been getting is insane," Hammer told us when he stopped by the MTV Newsroom recently. "I first got into New York yesterday, and I was walking to go buy a hot dog at a street meat cart, which is the first thing I do whenever I come to New York. Some little old lady comes running up to me and says, 'Ah, ah, here!' and she hands me a bag of the little peanuts, and she's like, 'I love "Social Network" movie, good, good, good!' And then she runs away. And I'm like, 'Wow, this movie thing is working out. I'm getting free peanuts!' "
He'll also be getting a free trip to the Oscars, as "Social Network" is expected to garner a slew of nominations, from Best Picture to Writing. And the fact that Hammer might get a nod himself blows his mind.
"It's crazy. It's very insane," he said. "I feel honored, but at the same time I understand I'm riding on the extremely long coattails of David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin."

Kristen Stewart Says Her Acting Has Improved 'With Every Movie'
'It's always really hard to say why you've progressed as an actor,' she tells MTV News.By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz
Kristen Stewart
Photo: MTV News
During the filming of "Welcome to the Rileys" — Kristen Stewart's new film in which she plays a runaway-turned-stripper — the "Twilight" superstar experienced a few things she did not anticipate. The prime examples were an offer to take a job as a stripper and getting into the head of such a different character.
Other unexplored territory for Stewart is that she seems to be growing more comfortable in her own skin and, in turn, growing as an actress. When MTV News asked her how she sees her performances now, versus her early work, Stewart wasn't quite sure how to answer.
"I don't know, man," she said. "I really don't know."
But upon further rumination, Stewart said that, while she still gets hung up on the "little things," she also feels that she has grown as an actor with every film she's made.
"I could sit here and bring up little things that I wish I didn't [do], little things that kill me, stuff that maybe other people don't see but stuff that is very apparent to me," Stewart explained of her tics. "It was so everything that it should be," she said of her experience making "Rileys." "If I did bring my little things to it, we did share a few personality aspects. I think that's maybe why I was hired. It was a stretch, because obviously I live nothing like she lives, but it's always really hard to say why you've progressed as an actor. I feel like I've gotten better with every movie."

Lady Gaga Challenger 'Confident' She Could Win In A Sing-Off
'I had my fans writing to me and saying, 'Hey, I think you're better than Lady Gaga,' ' Alisa Apps says on MTV's 'The Seven.'By Mawuse Ziegbe

Upstart vocalist Alisa Apps has nabbed headlines by challenging megastar pop queen Lady Gaga to a $1 million singing contest. To some onlookers, the contest may have appeared to come out of nowhere, but Apps has explained that her dedicated fans urged her to take on Mother Monster. During an interview that aired Friday (October 15) on MTV's "The Seven," the singer detailed the origins of the vocal battle.
"I had my fans writing to me and saying, 'Hey, I think you're better than Lady Gaga and ... it'd be cool for you to challenge her somehow,' " Apps told "Seven" host Kevin.
The singer maintained that her goal isn't to make nice with Gaga and added that a little rivalry keeps everyone on their toes.
"It's not really about co-existing," Apps said. "I think that competition is a good thing. It makes things more fun and exciting."
Gaga's camp was mum when MTV News reached out for comment about the challenge a few days ago, and Apps revealed that she hasn't "heard anything yet from her camp but I'm excited to."
Although no word about the challenge has surfaced from the "Bad Romance" diva, Apps still seems ready to show off her skills in a singing smack-down.
"I'm confident that, yeah, I am a better singer than her," she said.
When Apps first proposed the $1 million contest, which would entail both singers belting out a series of songs for a panel of judges who would determine the victor, she said she felt it would be the ultimate clash of genuine musicianship versus slick music-industry marketing.
"I feel sorry for Lady Gaga — she's just a plastic doll generated by the music money marketing machine," Apps said a press release. "I stand for the voice of your heart. Be real with me. Come to my world and feel. I want to hear you and for you to hear me. This contest gives people a chance to choose which they prefer: plastic or real."

'Paranormal Activity 2' Wins Weekend Box Office
Horror flick pulls in $41.5 million.By Mawuse Ziegbe

The freak-out flick "Paranormal Activity 2" entered theaters at the top of this weekend's box office. The highly-anticipated follow-up to the low-budget 2007 horror smash stuck to the practical effects and improvisational style of its predecessor. The movie continues the series' tradition of pulling in major bucks as well, making $41.5 million since landing in theaters Friday.
The stunt-packed, prank juggernaut "Jackass 3D" slipped to second place after its massive debut last week. However, the "Jackass" fellas' latest bag of gross-out tricks hauled in a hefty $21.6 million over the weekend. The film's total estimated gross now sits at around $87 million.
The action flick "Red" finished out the weekend in third place. The movie, which stars Hollywood veterans Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren and Bruce Willis, made $15 million. The figure bumps the flick's total estimated tally to just over $43 million.
The Clint Eastwood-directed supernatural drama "Hereafter" hit the fourth-place slot. The film, which stars Oscar-winning leading man and screen vet Matt Damon as a psychic grappling with his ability to connect to the afterlife, raked in $12 million.
David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin's smash, dot-com drama "The Social Network," rounded out this weekend's box-office top five. The film, which boasts performances from Jesse Eisenberg and "SexyBack" crooner turned actor Justin Timberlake, rang up $7.3 million in ticket sales. The weekend numbers bump up the movie's total estimated gross is nearly $73 million since its debut at the beginning of the month.

Justin Bieber 'Showed Love' With His Rapping, Vado Says
'I've been trying to reach out, haven't gotten nothing back,' rapper says of doing remix with Bieber.By Hillary Crosley

Last week Justin Bieber introduced us to Shawty Mane, his rap alter ego, when he rapped over Vado and Cam'ron's "Speaking in Tungs." Then rumors swirled that Bieber wasn't the true author of Shawty's lyrics, but rather that he had borrowed the bars from another MC named Tory Lanez.
"Oh word, well, you know, he's a singer, he's not a rapper," Vado told MTV News in response to the Bieber controversy. "Just the fact that he picked that beat out of all the beats was a good look. He definitely showed love, so I appreciate the love. If he was willing to do the remix, I would love it."
MC Lanez rhymes over Lloyd Banks' "Beamer Benz or Bentley" track, which was uploaded in March 2010, and spits "Getting hella dome, put Lady Gaga on my telephone/ Hella gone and your girl beat no metronome/ My new bitch she a yellowbone/ I buy her yellowstones because I like it when she got that yellow on."
On "Speaking in Tungs," which hit the Web last week, Bieber rhymes, "Call up Lady Gaga ... on my ... on my telephone/ Hella dome ... yeah ... my girl beats, no metronome/ My new chick she a yellowbone/ I buy her yellow stones, 'cause I like it when she got that yellow on."
Despite the questionable source of the Canadian pop star's bars, Vado is still interested in a remix.
"I've been definitely trying to reach out, haven't gotten nothing back, but you know, it's all good," he said. And what about comparing Bieber's Shawty Mane turn to the styles of Notorious B.I.G.? Vado says people have him all wrong.
"Nah, see, I never said ... shout to Ed Lover because he hit me with the 'come on son?' " said Vado with a laugh. "What I was saying, I wasn't saying that he sounded like him, or he flowed as great as Big. I wasn't trying to say that at all. What I was saying was, his flow, he was flowing. I can't remember the part, but he'd said a few lines that just the way he said it, to me it reminded me of the way Big would say it. But it's not what he said, it was just the way he delivered it.
"I wasn't trying to put him with Big at all. No disrespect," Vado added.

Although the MTV Video Music Awards aren't until Sunday, a slew of VMA-themed concerts featuring Ke$ha, B.o.B and others will take over Los Angeles in the days leading up to the big show.
Sean Kingston kicks things off Thursday night (September 9) with the Verizon Club Night Concert Event at Hollywood's Playhouse, where Jermaine Dupri will also be spinning. On Friday night, Jason Derülo and Never Shout Never will take the Music Box stage at a concert sponsored by Taco Bell and Feed the Beat.
On Saturday night, "Rock Band 3" and FreeCreditScore.com will present the 2010 MTV VMA Concert to Benefit Lifebeat — The Music Industry Fights AIDS, featuring VMA nominees Ke$ha and B.o.B. The "Tik Tok" singer said she is honored to play a show benefiting such an important cause. "It's really awesome that MTV can bring together incredible musicians over VMA weekend, not only to entertain, but to make a difference," she said. "The world of celebrity is a funny game, although it's a great feeling to have the opportunity to use my fame for a good cause helping those in need."
B.o.B is equally excited to perform for a good cause: "The road to the VMAs has been a wild one. I'm glad to be taking time the night before the big show to support a great organization. Lifebeat's message of HIV prevention is an important one for young people, and I am honored to join them in the fight."
Tickets for the Ke$ha and B.o.B event, with all proceeds going to Lifebeat, are available at Lifebeat.org.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News' VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday.

Kanye West Breaks Down Opening Line Of 'Runaway'
West said line about not trusting media reports is 'poignant.'By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway
Kanye West at his "Runaway" interview on Saturday
Photo: MTV News
Kanye West's film debut, "Runaway," is short on dialogue but the film's few verbal exchanges make an impact.
The first line appears minutes into the movie when West advises the newly arrived phoenix — played by Selita Ebanks — to be wary of the information dished out by the media. West shuts off a televised report that has captivated the phoenix, saying, "First rule in this world, baby, don't pay attention to anything you see in the news." West explained in an interview with MTV News directly after the film's premiere that he kicked off the dialogue with the concise declaration because of his personal experience with published hearsay.
"I just thought that was so funny," he revealed. "When me and Hype [Williams] sat and wrote the entire script we had a lot more dialogue and I just thought that was a poignant thing. I thought of it just on set ... for the first thing for you to hear me actually say on my first film. 'Cause everyday on the news there's some new bullsh-- about me ... or about everything going on. Once you're on this side of the camera you're like, 'Aw man, none of this stuff is actually real.' "
West added that he had specific ideas for the delivery of the film's spare script.
"I wanted to hit all the lines just kinda cheeky, really heavy-handed, on some [Quentin] Tarantino-like [style] 'Anything you say in the news,' " West said, playfully affecting a thuggish accent."So it almost has a cadence of rap."
'Ye added that the film's lack of verbally-articulated lines makes the project difficult to characterize.
"But just the fact that [there's] only three points of dialogue through it you can't classify what type of film this is either," he said.
As far as his acting skills, 'Ye said he feels he's on par with other filmmakers who occasionally jump in front of the camera.
"I think I'm around a level of like, Tarantino or Spike Lee or something like that" he said. "I'm no Daniel Day-Lewis ... but I created the whole thing so it doesn't really matter [as long as] you get the point."
'Ye's first foray into film clocks in about 35 minutes, but while the artist maintained that he'd like to see "Runaway" in movie theaters, he said he's not sure if he would make a feature-length production. West said he's largely indifferent to the running time of his projects and that it's all about putting out a game-changing piece of art.
"The idea of full-length is not my main concern," he said. "It's just that people enjoy themselves and ... they have to put their hands over their ears because what they see just blew their brains out."

Michael Jackson's Nephew Austin Brown Releases First Single
'I can't help where I come from, but I love where I come from, so I just do music and I create,' Austin Brown says.By Steven Roberts

Photo: MTV News
The name Austin Brown may not ring any bells, but he is the youngest son of Rebbie "Centipede" Jackson, and, of course, the nephew of the late Michael Jackson. Brown, a talented and versatile singer, songwriter, producer and dancer, is ready to carry on the Jackson family business for the next generation. But he isn't necessarily looking to live off the family's fame.
"Music is in my heart," Brown said. "It's what I love to do. I can't help where I come from, but I love where I come from, so I just do music and I create."
Brown said he grew up listening to everything from Boyz II Men and George Michael to the Beatles. And while such a diverse musical taste isn't uncommon with the iPod generation of today, the singer said he loved to sit around and dissect what makes each artist special. He'd listen and wonder what about the Beatles inspired Brian Wilson's (of the Beach Boys) work, which in turn inspired the Beatles.
Brown also loves to perform, which he said started when his mom first took him onstage. "She was doing a show in Japan and I was about 3," said Brown. "When I first looked up, there was all of these things onstage — gargoyles and all this weird stuff at the club. And I got scared and kind of ran off, but I paused when I ran off. So my mom tried it again the next day, and I danced my heart off after that."
Some 20 years later, Brown has teamed up with super-producer Rodney Jerkins and is set to release his debut album, 85. The title represents what Brown has learned from music throughout his life.
"He had the vision," explained Jerkins. "He said, 'It's going to be called 85.' Why 85? 'Because that was the year I was born and in '85 this artist came out, and the music sounded like this. We've got to be inspired by this.' The whole thing we kept trying to do was create a sound that makes you want to dance and feel good."
The album's first single, "Target Practice," debuted Monday on Brown's website, and the video will follow. Brown said it doesn't look anything short of stunning.
"It was directed by a man by the name of Tom DeSanto, who is the producer of 'Transformers' and 'X-Men,' and it was such a blessing to get him for my first video," he said.
"He's downplaying it for me," Jerkins said. "Your first video and you've got the producer of 'Transformers'? How did you get him from the movie world? Most people go from making music videos to the movie world. He's coming from the movie world to the video world."

Kanye West Calls 'Runaway' A Reflection Of His Entire Life
Yeezy says he made the film for all the women he's had a relationship with.By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway

Kanye West's film debut, "Runaway," a companion piece to his upcoming album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, is an involved and intricate production, beyond the typical four-minute visuals that accompany much of today's popular music.
When the MC sat down with MTV News' Sway Calloway after the film's MTV premiere Saturday (October 23), it was noted that the project, while ambitious in scope and scale, still reads as an intimate and personal piece for the star. Yeezy conceded that he turned to specific aspects of his personal life for inspiration: his ex-girlfriends.
"I wanted every girl I ever been in a relationship with to feel like a piece of her was being represented. And even for my mother to feel like a piece of her was being represented when she sees this," he said.
He added that the project wasn't solely about the women he has known, and said he wanted all of his female viewers to be able to appreciate the film.
"[It's] just for females to connect with the different emotions, and also it's a representation of creativity and just being different," he said. "Like that main point, the world knocks the wings off of the phoenixes and turns them to stone."
While West said the arc of the phoenix's experience has some parallels to his career, he maintained the piece is a reflection of how he felt his entire life, not simply what he faced in the past year. The "Power" lyricist also delved into how he spent his time away from the spotlight, which included bouncing around the world and holding court with some of the planet's most renowned artists.
"I did run away from it all, and I needed to run away," he said. "I needed that time away. I lived in Rome; I lived in Japan; I stayed in Hawaii to soak in [and] get new people around me, whether it's chillin' with [designer] Giuseppe Zanotti in Rimini, Italy, or chillin' up at Fendi, or chillin' with Karl Lagerfeld at the atelier at Chanel. Just getting all these new ideas, then going in and sitting with the RZA and Pete Rock and No I.D. and Q-Tip and S-1, that did 'Power' with me. All these people coming in [and] giving all this new energy."
The Chicago spitter also recalled his time kicking back and dissecting music with Miami boss Rick Ross to foster creativity to put to use in future projects.
"We had the chefs out there in Hawaii, and the breakfast would come, and me and Rick Ross just start vibin' on the game: What did Big Daddy Kane mean? What did Rakim mean? Just the way our voices cut on the track and us bouncing ideas to be able to bring a higher level of art to the table," he said. "I was just listening to the radio when I came up here, and I was very proud of the music I was hearing — the level, the sonics, the horns — and just bring it back to a Quincy Jones level of production."

Lady Gaga, Elton John Record Duet For 'Gnomeo & Juliet'

'We're all in here watching him live his dream,' Swizzy tells MTV News.By Hillary Crosley

On Thursday night in New York City, Kanye West premiered his "Runaway" film for a crowd that included Big Apple industry insiders the rapper described as "family." Among them was Swizz Beatz, Kanye's collaborator on several G.O.O.D. Friday tracks, including "So Appalled," who took a moment to review Kanye's nod to filmmaker Federico Fellini
"I just want to shout out my brother Kanye for being so brave, that was his expression of our music and culture," Swizz Beatz told MTV News with a smile.
For those unable to make the MC's private screenings in Paris, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, "Runaway" will premiere this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and BET, and stream live on MTV.com, BET.com and VH1.com, followed by a live Q&A session with West on MTV and MTV.com.
And how would Swizz rank the film?
"On a 1 to 10, it was a 9," said Swizz, before defending his ruling. "The reason why it was a 9 was because it should've been longer. It was a deep, deep story and you have to, one, know Kanye, to really understand it."
"Runaway" follows 'Ye after he rescues a phoenix, played by the lovely Selita Ebanks, and tries to integrate the bird into his human world with varying results.
With the television premiere of his first feature film set for this weekend, whether critics applaud or pan the piece, in Swizz's eyes, Kanye is the victor.
"We're all in here watching him live his dream, so that means he won," he said.
Kanye West's "Runaway" will premiere on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on MTV, MTV2 and BET, and will also stream live on MTV.com, BET.com and VH1.com, followed by a live Q&A session on MTV and MTV.com.

Michael Jackson Doctors Won't Be Charged In Singer's Death
California state investigators will not file charges against seven other doctors who treated the late star.By Mawuse Ziegbe

Seven doctors who treated the late Michael Jackson will not be charged in the singer's death. According to The Associated Press California officials said Wednesday (July 28) that they will not file charges against the doctors who were under scrutiny as part of an investigation launched by the state's Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.
Jackson passed away in June 2009 after suffering cardiac arrest. His personal doctor Conrad Murray — who was not one of the seven doctors included in the investigation — has been charged in his death and pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter after allegedly giving the star the potent anesthetic propofol.
"I am very disappointed," said Brian Oxman, an attorney for Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson. "The misuse of medications by Michael Jackson in the last years of his life was excessive and to fail to bring that to the public eye is ignoring reality." Oxman is serving as Joe Jackson's lawyer in a wrongful death suit against Murray.
Bureau spokesperson Christine Gasparac told the AP that one of the doctors who was under investigation was referred to the California Medical Board for prescribing drugs to one of Jackson's aliases, however, a spokesperson for the board did not confirm the referral. A spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Agency told the AP that it has also dropped its investigation into Jackson's doctors.
Murray lawyer Ed Chernoff has maintained that the doctor did not administer a fatal dose of propofol and has suggested that either Jackson gave himself the anesthetic or another person may have supplied the late star with the dose. However, an anesthesia expert has said the possibility of Jackson administering the drug himself is unlikely.
A preliminary hearing in the Jackson manslaughter case is slated for August and Murray faces a sentence of up to four years in jail.
