Justin Bieber's Early Christmas Gift: A Holiday Album
'We are going to try and raise alot of money this year for charity!' teen pop star tweets about next project.By Terri Schwartz

Beliebers have more to look forward to this holiday season than just chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Justin Bieber announced Thursday (August 25) on Twitter that he'll be releasing his first Christmas album later this year.
"So it's true...been in the studio doing something special for christmas. we are going to try and raise alot of money this year for charity!" the 17-year-old Canadian pop star tweeted.
This will be Bieber's second studio album, since his first release, My World, was technically an EP. Barring the release of Never Say Never -- The Remixes, which featured the new single "Never Say Never," this will be the first new music Bieber has released in more than a year. He didn't share whether he will be collaborating with any other artists on his holiday record or when fans can expect it to hit stores.
Bieber is no stranger to using his musical talents for charitable causes. In 2010, he took part in "We Are the World 25" alongside Miley Cyrus, Kanye West and Lil Wayne. Bieber has supported charities like Give Back Hollywood, Jumpstart and Children's Miracle Network in the past, though he did not specify which charity he would be donating the proceeds of his Christmas album to in his tweet.
The "Baby" crooner isn't the only artist to announce a Christmas album recently. Zooey Deschanel shared the news over Twitter earlier this month that her band She & Him will be releasing their first holiday album -- and third album overall -- later this year. In addition, Bieber's fellow Canadian Michael Bublé has been releasing a series of promos for his holiday album, Christmas, on his official website over the past few weeks.
Which Christmas carol are you hoping Justin covers on his holiday album? Share your suggestions in the comments!

Lady Gaga Releases First 'Fashion Film' Version of 'You and I'
Video was directed by fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, with four more clips to come.By Gil Kaufman

Most artists make one big splashy video for their latest single and then move on to the next one. As she's proven over and over again, though — most recently at the VMAs, where she stayed in her Jo Calderone character all night long — Lady Gaga is not most people.
After announcing on Twitter on Thursday that she shot five "fashion films" set to "Yoü and I" with Dutch fashion photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, she unleashed the first clip later that day, "Haus of Ü Featuring Nymph."
In typical Gaga fashion, it is perplexing, mesmerizing and just a bit odd, and nothing like the way-more elaborate, official music video for the rocking ballad. The barely two-minute black-and-white clip has Gaga pulling off a series of balletic twists and turns while wearing a simple slip dress and ballet slippers, her blonde hair loose and waving in the wind or up in a bun. At various points, there appear to be moths or some other kind of insect flying around in the background and lying dead on the ground.
Wearing very little makeup, Gaga stares intently at the camera while dancing in front of a stark white background. At one point she pulls up the dress while writhing on the ground, almost exposing herself. Near the end there is a fleeting moment where she gazes into the camera while holding her hair on her head in what looks like a colorized photo, with blonde applied to her locks, along with blush on her cheeks and a splash of blue on the dress.
Gaga did not announce when the other videos would be posted.

Usher Collaborator Rico Love Calls Kelly Rowland's 'Motivation' 'Truly Organic'
Lil Wayne 'jumped on it,' Raymond v. Raymond writer tells Mixtape Daily.By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rob Markman
Rico Love
Photo: TTLL
Behind the Beats: Rico Love
If more people read the credits behind some of R&B's biggest hits, Rico Love should be a household name. Born Richard Preston Butler Jr., the former Florida A&M University student is now one of the music industry's most-sought-after singer/songwriters.
After writing hits for Usher ("There Goes My Baby"), Beyoncé ("Sweet Dreams") and Diddy-Dirty Money ("Hello Good Morning"), to name a few, one of Rico's biggest hits to date is Kelly Rowland's "Motivation."
"It came about in a truly organic way," Rico told Mixtape Daily of the Jim Jonsin-produced "Motivation." "We had this meeting in New York: myself and Sylvia [Rhone] and Kelly. And they just were saying, 'We need to find that single; we need that big single.' Everybody was asking for an uptempo, actually.
"I flew down to Miami the next day, and that Tuesday, we got back in the studio, and Jim started playing these chords, and then coming up with these little sounds — the signature sounds that Jim comes up with. I just told him to lay it like a skeleton idea, and I jumped in the booth, and I started with the verse, and I kind of sang my way all the way through the record."
Rowland, formerly of Destiny's Child, was in the studio while Rico was laying down the reference track and made her regard for the song known immediately. "Kelly was there and watched the whole process," Rico recalled. "As soon as I finished singing the demo, usually an artist wants to live with it or listen to it for a little while. She just said, 'I want to cut it right now.' So she jumped in the booth, and we cut the record."
"Motivation" became the lead single for Rowland's third album, Here I Am, which was released in April. The song, which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, features a verse from Lil Wayne.
"Lil Wayne got out of jail a few days later, and as soon as he got out of jail, [Rowland] went to see him, and he jumped on it," Rico explained. "It was the most organized situation ever. It was nothing contrived about it."
There's been nothing manufactured about Rico's accomplishments either. Starting his musical career as a rapper, he has signed former Roc-a-Fella rapper Young Chris to his Universal/Motown-distributed Division 1 label.
After leaving Florida A&M to pursue music, Rico caught the attention of Usher, and penned songs for the R&B singer, including "Throwback." Other artists soon benefitted from his songwriting, including T.I., Pleasure P and Mario. Rico takes pride in being versatile with his talents, preferring not to make specific songs intended for specific artists only.
"Sometimes, when you keep an artist in mind, you'll limit yourself," Rico explained. "You won't go a place that they probably would go because you're thinking, "Nah, she wouldn't say this," or "He wouldn't do this," or "He wouldn't say this," and "This melody is out of the way for them."
"When I get a chance to just get into the studio and just write music and just produce music and sit at the piano and tell a guy where I want to hear the chords and create the progressions and just freely make music, it's a lot more fun."
Lately, Rico has been back in the studio with Usher. In 2007, he was signed to the singer's former US Records via J Records. But his debut album was never released, and he and Usher went their separate ways.
But as Rico become a songwriting force, the two eventually started working together again. The first song they recorded was the Grammy-winning "There Goes My Baby" from 2010's Raymond v. Raymond. Now, Rico is working on Usher's forthcoming album and embracing the pressure of surpassing its predecessor's platinum sales and critical success.
"I feel like this is what separates the boys from the men," Rico said of working with Usher. "This week, we been creating records together. We had two mics, two headphones set up in the booth, and we just sit there and vibe out.
"These first few days have been amazing. We got four records cut so far that sound super amazing. I'm super excited about it. I'm just anxious for the world to hear it."

'Ghost Rider 2' Trailer: An Expert Analysis
'Spirit of Vengeance' sneak peek has MTV Movies team excited for what's to come from the Nicolas Cage superhero.By Eric Ditzian and Josh Wigler
"Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance"
Photo: Columbia Pictures
The "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" trailer popped up online late last week, and what else is there to say about it other than Nicolas Cage closes out the new footage by pissing fire? Well, it turns out there's a heck of a lot left to say, which is why the MTV Movies team jumped into the comic book action for an expert commentary.
The trailer begins sweetly, with a score reminiscent of "Lost" and some epic title cards: "He fought the curse ... evil will force him ... to face his demon." But any wacky notion that directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, who also helmed the "Crank" films, have delivered a kinder, gentler Johnny Blaze is quickly dismissed when the music picks up and the flames flicker to reveal our first look at the new Ghost Rider.
It's a look the directors have spoken with us about at length. "We wanted this black skull, with this gasoline fire and this black, inky smoke to get this real feeling of explosions and fire and heat," Neveldine said at San Diego Comic-Con. "That's something we really went for: 'Let's feel the heat in this movie.' "
The grittiness of this Ghost Rider most definitely shines through in the trailer. Charcoal skull? Check. A whiff of gasoline seemingly rising off the screen? Check. Neveldine and Taylor not holding back in this trailer and delivering a full-on look at our hero right off the bat? Check. And they don't stop there, quickly showing off Ghost Rider's signature move, the Penance Stare: He looks into your eyes and makes you feel all the pain and suffering you've ever inflicted on other people. This is no fairy-tale power. This is not X-ray vision. This is a hard-core demonic power, one which was not played very well in the first film. Even in this quick shot, the Stare looks very cool.
Speaking of demonic powers, the trailer got us thinking this film might not just be a sequel to the 2007 original, but to Cage's "Drive Angry," the 3-D action flick that had the actor busting out of hell to inflict gory revenge on his enemies. Crazy talk? Sure. But since "Drive Angry" hardly performed well enough at the box office to justify a sequel, we'll take whatever we can get.
We get to see plenty of Ghost Rider here, but the trailer gives us the briefest glimpse of Johnny Whitworth as Blackout. He's part human, part demon, all bad news. Whitworth is a guy to watch — hardly a household name but one who delivered an energetic supporting role in the largely forgettable "Limitless." With Neveldine and Taylor in control, there is serious potential for killer fight scenes between Blackout and Ghost Rider.
Another character we get a peek at is young Danny Ketch. Comic fans will know him as one of the guys who eventually becomes Ghost Rider. The big departure here is that Danny is a kid. In the comics, he's a young man. While this film probably won't turn into a passing of the torch from Cage's Johnny Blaze to Danny as the next Ghost Rider, it's nonetheless cool to see filmmakers laying the mythological groundwork.
The trailer ends with pure, absurd fun: Ghost Rider declaring that it feels awesome when he pees fire. That's essentially how Cage feels about the movie as a whole. "The Ghost Rider is just the coolest-looking superhero, and it has to be the one that goes to film and looks the best," the actor told us at SDCC. "I think they've achieved that with this."

Britney Spears Calls VMA Tribute 'An Honor'
Spears tells MTV News her onstage smooch with Lady Gaga's Jo Calderone wasn't planned.By James Montgomery

Britney Spears played it humble during her Video Music Awards tribute -- using her time onstage to shine the spotlight on her fellow performer, Beyoncé -- not an easy feat to accomplish in between nabbing the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and getting kissed by Lady Gaga's male alter ego Jo Calderone.
When MTV News caught up with Spears minutes after stepping offstage, she stayed humble, calling the tribute "an honor" and once again deflecting the spotlight.
"It was really crazy. I had no idea what to expect," Spears said. "The kids were amazing and so entertaining, and it was a really fun night. It was really cool. I was like, 'Wow, that's really sweet!'
"I loved the little girl in the 'Slave' outfit," she continued. "She was just so tiny and she delivered and she had such a great performance. ... They were all so great, and you could tell they worked really hard."
Watch the Britney Spears VMA Tribute now!
And Spears didn't stop there either. For an artist who's won more than her fare share of VMAs in her career, she was blown away by Sunday night's Best Pop Video triumph. "Every year ... just to come here is such an honor, you never get used to it," she smiled. "But tonight means so much to me." In a night full of high-water moments, it was her tribute smooch from Gaga -- er, Calderone -- that she gushed about backstage. Especially because she said the kiss was totally unplanned.
"She was in full character!" Spears said. "We just got onstage and we just kind of felt it out; we didn't know what was going on, so it was interesting!"

Check out everything we've got on "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance."

On Sunday night, some of the biggest names in the music industry hit up the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas and decided that sparkles and sequins make for the perfect additions to any red carpet get-up. Well, it is Sin City after all.
Taylor Swift always seems to bring some of that Nashville sparkle to any red carpet. She arrived at the show in a pale-hued, sequined Elie Saab gown. Nicki Minaj showed off her signature sense of style in her baby-blue, body-hugging spandex Mark Fast catsuit.
Selena Gomez turned up the style dial in a sexy, cut-out black Dolce & Gabbana gown that she paired with red strappy sandals with sparkly bow detailing. Like Gomez, Ke$ha opted for some cut-out detailing in her sparkly, slate-gray dress with tulle skirt. Rihanna looked white hot in her men's tailored Max Azria suit, which she kept sexy and feminine by not buttoning her shirt all the way.
Fergie went S&M chic in her little black bandage-type dress by Hervé Léger. Nicole Kidman also wore black. She paired a casual braid hairstyle with a long black gown and Keith Urban. British pop cutie Kyle Minogue looked funky in her little black lacey dress. Inside the show, Britney Spears sat in the audience wearing a skimpy black dress of her own, her hair in loose curls, with little-to-no accessories.
While some stars kept the color scheme low-key, Keri Hilson decided to stand out in her billowy little yellow dress paired with a turquoise-colored belt. Kelly Rowland showed off some of her best assets in a body-hugging, bright pink bandage dress.
The fellas also looked tight on the carpet. Joe Jonas wore all black with white sneakers, Ne-Yo paired his periwinkle suit with a Yankees cap and Justin Bieber wore black tuxedo pants with a gold-lamé tuxedo jacket.

Black Keys Still 'Evolving' On Brothers Follow-Up
In addition to Keys' seventh LP, a second Blakroc album is also on the horizon.By Gil Kaufman
The Black Keys
Photo: Warner Bros. Records
The Black Keys typically keep it simple: two guys, drums, guitars and thick slabs of bluesy goodness. They also keep it quick, which explains how the duo has already recorded their follow-up to 2010's breakthrough album, Brothers, according to drummer Patrick Carney.
"We just finished making a new album. So that's going to come out either later this year or early next year," Carney told MTV News of the seventh disc from the group fronted by guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach. The band spoke to us on the black carpet of the VMAs, where they were up for Best Rock Video for "Howlin' for You" but lost out to veteran rockers the Foo Fighters.
After producing their first four albums by themselves, the Keys hooked up with studio wiz Danger Mouse for 2008's Attack & Release and then again on Brothers.
"He's a really good friend of ours and he's super talented. It's always ... interesting," Carney said, pondering the best way to describe working with the Gnarls Barkley producer who has expanded his résumé lately to include work with U2, Broken Bells and Italian composer Daniele Luppi. "It's comfortable, but at the same time difficult because he does push us to do things we normally wouldn't do."
Asked how their latest hook-up with Danger will push their mix of blues and garage rock forward, Carney said, "I hope it sounds different enough that people see that ... we're still evolving."
In a recent interview with Voir Quebec, Auerbach described the sound as "more guitar rock 'n roll," citing the Clash, Rolling Stones and the Cramps as influences.
In the meantime, the Keys are revisiting their Blakroc collaborative series with hip-hop boss Damon Dash with the upcoming Blakroc 2. According to a just released teaser video for the second album in the series, they will be joined this time around by Wiz Khalifa, Talib Kweli, U-God, Curren$y, Jim Jones, the Cool Kids, Jay Electronica, OC and Sean Price. No release date has been announced for the album yet.
The first Blakroc album, released in 2009, featured collaborations with Raekwon, RZA and ODB, Jim Jones, Q-Tip, Mos Def and Ludacris.

Justin Bieber Vintage Video: His First Meeting With Usher
Justin Timberlake also wanted to sign Bieber, 'Never Say Never' star said in 2009.By Jocelyn Vena

Just as the world was learning who Justin Bieber was, MTV News caught up with the shaggy-haired singer in September 2009. He was gearing up to release his debut album, My World, and plotting his pop-world domination. In the year and a half since that interview, Bieber has done the nearly impossible, launching himself into the pop mega-sphere.
In the chat, Bieber recalled how he and his manager, Scooter Braun, met and eventually got big names interested in signing the teen.
"My manager found me on YouTube. He flew me out to Atlanta for the first time — I'd never actually been on a plane before. He flew me to Atlanta where i was going to the studio to meet some people," he recalled.
"And Usher happened to roll up in his Range Rover. I ran up to him, and I was like, 'Usher, I love your songs. Want me to sing you one?' The politest possible way he could say no, he did. ... I took the hint. I didn't get to sing for him: He had to run into a studio session."
But later, Usher was beckoning the teen back to the ATL. "He actually watched my videos — after my manager got to talking to him — and was like, 'I should have let this kid sing,' and flew me back to Atlanta where I got to sing for him in a proper setting. A week later, I had a meeting with Justin Timberlake, who also wanted to sign me, so they both kind of wanted me."
As the story goes, Bieber went with Usher, and the two never looked back.
"As far as Usher being my mentor, he's definitely given me words of wisdom. I hear it from everybody, but definitely to hear it from Usher is great, just to stay humble and grounded is very important," he explained.
"There's a lot of people, especially young stars, that have gone down the wrong path, and I definitely plan to stay humble and stay grounded and keep my family first, because that stuff really is important in life."
On Friday, Justin Bieber's 3-D documentary, "Never Say Never," opens. The film takes a look at how the teen star worked to hit it big. MTV News has been chatting with him along the way, from the time he first burst on the scene in 2009 until now, as he embarks on a huge 2011 that will include a tour and more new music.

Demi Lovato Hopes To Inspire Others With Her 'Honest Journey'
Singer explains why she chose 'Skyscraper' as her first single instead of 'just another dance song.'By Jocelyn Vena

Demi Lovato proclaimed her inner strength on the emotional power ballad, "Skyscraper," the lead single off her album, Unbroken, which drops later this month. The track immediately connected with her fans, who have stuck by her side over the last year as she's battled personal issues.
Their support of the track, Lovato explained to MTV News last week, has given her newfound strength as she sets out to launch the next phase of her bustling music career. "When the song came out, it went #1 on iTunes instantly and it was so surprising to me," she said at a fan meet-and-greet in Los Angeles, where Lovatics lined up for blocks to meet Demi. "I wasn't expecting that at all. It's been such a whirlwind, and I've been so blessed and so thankful for it."
In "Skyscraper," Lovato confronts her issues — the ones for which she sought treatment last fall — because, she said, she wanted to keep her fans in the loop about her growth as a person.
"I've been pretty honest," she said. "My whole journey has been about telling my story and hoping that when I share my story, it inspires somebody. So, when I decided to come out with a single that was honest and about my journey and about standing strong and tall like a skyscraper, I hope that it inspired people.
"I thought that there was a bigger opportunity for me to come out with a song that would inspire people, rather than it be just another dance song on the radio," she added.
Sure, "Skyscraper" has a message, but there are also some fun tracks on the album, Demi promises, including her Missy Elliott/Timbaland collabo, "All Night Long."
"The song that Missy and I did together, Timbaland's actually on it, too, and it's fun," she said. "It's about staying up all night long and singing it to the boy that you like, and it's flirty and fun and it's not too grown-up, but it's grown-up enough."

Adam Lambert's 'Whole Lotta Love': The Story Behind The Cover
Glam rocker tackled the legendary 1970 Led Zeppelin song for 'American Idol' rock night.By Gil Kaufman
Adam Lambert performs "Whole Lotta Love" on "American Idol" on Tuesday
Photo: R. Mickshaw/Getty Images/ Fox
Imagine a freight train speeding toward you at midnight. Or a rockslide barreling down a hill as you try to outrace it. That's the feeling of the ominous, chugging Jimmy Page riff that kicks off Led Zeppelin's 1970 Stonehenge of rock, "Whole Lotta Love." And that's before singer Robert Plant leans into one of the nastiest, ecstatic rock screams this side of the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again."
That's the song Adam Lambert chose to sing on "American Idol" rock night Tuesday (May 5), and, needless to say, it was a challenge that the eyeliner-loving Los Angeles stage veteran was more than up for, hitting a series of high notes and rock screams that would have made Plant proud. It was a risky maneuver that paid off for Lambert, who chose a tune that came in at #75 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in 2004.
The legendary British rock act recorded the tribute to Chicago blues icon Willie Dixon during their second U.S. tour after working it out in their live show, including it on their 1969 classic album Led Zeppelin II. Like many of the songs Zeppelin performed early in their career, "Love" was a blues standard turned on its head with a heavy dose of crunching psychedelic guitar and thundering drums, courtesy of late drummer John Bonham. The song was based on a 1962 tune by another blues forefather, Muddy Waters, called "You Need Love," which was penned by Dixon.
For Zeppelin's version, Plant customized the lyrics by adding some lyrical quotes from a few other songs Dixon wrote for Howlin' Wolf, "Back Door Man" and "Shake For Me," nailing the tricky vocal in a single take. It was also inspired by 1966's "You Need Loving" from the British rock group the Small Faces, for whom Zeppelin had great affection, but they also did not credit Dixon for his part in writing the original lyrics. The song became Zeppelin's first U.S. single and their only U.S. top 10 hit. Though their manager would not let them release singles in the U.K. because he thought it cannibalized album sales, the song was finally released as the band's only British single in 1997.
Dixon sued Zeppelin over the song in 1985, claiming it borrowed too heavily from his "You Need Love," and Zeppelin reached an agreement with him, with Dixon using the money he received to set up a program that provided musical instruments for schools. A cornerstone of heavy rock, the tune -- which was the theme song for the long-running British countdown show "Top of the Pops" in the 1970s and '80s -- has been covered by dozens of artists over the years, from Tina Turner and Ben Harper to Prince, Slash, Leona Lewis, Train's Pat Monahan, the London Symphony Orchestra and Jane's Addiction.

Married to Jay for three years, the star has said time and time again that she planned on having a baby by the time she was 30; well, B turns 30 early next month.
The power couple tied the knot back in 2008 in a private ceremony at Jay-Z's New York apartment, and since then, there have been years of pregnancy rumors that they've shot down.
In June, the singer told CNN interviewer Piers Morgan that she wanted to get pregnant.

"I feel like a woman. I feel like I'm very aware of who I am. I feel great and I feel like 30 is the ideal age [to start a family], because you're mature enough to know who you are and to have your boundaries and your standards, and not be afraid, too polite -- but you're young enough to be a young woman," she said. "I'm so looking forward to it."
The singer added, "I always said I'd have a baby at 30. But I also said I'm going to retire at 30. ... Only God knows."
In that same interview, Beyoncé talked about her husband.
"Jay and I have kind of made a decision that we want to be known for our music and not our relationships or scandals. But he is amazing," she said. "I definitely had a very natural friendship and connection with him. We've been together for a very long time and I'm very happy. Love is the foundation of everything, everything I do. My music is inspired by love -- from my family, my husband, my sister."
No word on when the baby is due.

'Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' Returns To IMAX
Michael Bay's robot flick will hit theaters again on Friday and run for two weeks.By Terri Schwartz

The moon will go dark again as Paramount gears up to re-release "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" in IMAX this Friday.
The third "Transformers" flick is currently the second-highest-grossing film of the year in the U.S., coming in second to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" with $348.5 million. "Dark of the Moon" will get a second life in 246 IMAX theaters in North America beginning on Friday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, and will run in IMAX through September 8.
In most cases, that means the Michael Bay flick will screen alongside already running movies like "Deathly Hallows, Part 2," "Cowboys & Aliens" and "Final Destination 5," given that Steven Soderbergh's soon-to-open "Contagion" doesn't hit IMAX until September 9.
Last year, "Avatar" made a similar move at the end of the summer, attempting to recapture moviegoers' interest before the end of the blockbuster movie season. The major difference between re-releases for "Avatar" and "Dark of the Moon" is that James Cameron stuffed "Avatar" with nine more minutes of previously unreleased footage to entice moviegoers.
While "Dark of the Moon" doesn't have new footage, the newest releases haven't been big draws at the box office and that may make it a good time to try to nab any stragglers who still want to see giant robots blow things up.
Christopher Nolan's Batman flick also benefited from this strategy. After its initial July 2008 opening, Warner Bros. gave "The Dark Knight" a February 2009 IMAX re-release. And even though the studio bypassed the summer movie season for the second release, the stunt still worked. There was plenty of residual interest in the flick following its Academy Awards success, and the second run helped push "Dark Knight" onto the list of the highest-grossing films of all time.
It will be interesting to see if this becomes a trend in summers to come, with blockbuster films like "Prometheus," "Men in Black III," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Dark Knight Rises" all set to hit theaters in 2012.

Jay-Z, Kanye Show Their 'Growth' With Lyrics To Unborn Kids
'New Day' producer RZA talks about the Watch the Throne track — before Jay and Beyoncé's big news.By Rob Markman

LOS ANGELES — With Beyoncé and Jay-Z now expecting their first child, the Watch the Throne track "New Day" takes on a whole new meaning.
On the self-reflecting soul track, Hov and Kanye West rap to their unborn children, but now that Jigga will be a big poppa, some fans are wondering: Are the song's lyrics a life-imitating-art situation, or was the father-to-be dropping early clues?
Though his lyrical motivations are unclear right now, "New Day" producer RZA likes the message Jay-Z and Kanye are sending. "I love what they do, so I just felt good to hear what they do," RZA said on the red carpet for the BMI Urban Awards over the weekend. "And then for them to talk about the future generation of their children, they continue to show their solid dopeness and their growth as well."
"I'm sorry, Junior, I already ruined ya," Jay raps with regret as he fears that his past sins could come back like a karma boomerang to affect his unborn. Still, in the same breath, Hov rhymes about simply being able to take his kid to a barber shop and charter private planes.
When the Brooklyn MC began his path to becoming one of rap's greats by dropping his debut Reasonable Doubt in 1996, he was already a grown man. On "New Day," he aims to provide the right amount of guidance, so things don't take quite as long for his seed. "It took me 26 years to find my path/ My only job is cutting time in half."
There are other jewels passed on, like looking a person in the eyes when you talk to them and the importance of keeping your word. In the end, Jay gives his most heartfelt pledge: "Promise to never leave him, even if his mama tweaking/ 'Cause my dad left, and I promise never repeat him."

T.I. was released from prison early Wednesday morning (August 31) and is on his way to a halfway house to serve out the rest of his 11-month sentence for probation violation.
MTV News received confirmation from Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesman Chris Burke that T.I. was released from Forrest City Correctional Facility in Arkansas at 7:29 a.m. and is on his way to a community living facility. The name of the facility will not be released until after his arrival. The Atlanta rapper has been serving time for a probation violation stemming from his arrest in Los Angeles on drug charges last year.
The King has already taken to Twitter to announce his return. "Feels great to be back where I belong...Back in the arms of those who need me the most," he tweeted from his verified @Tip account. "The storm is over & da sun back out. IT'S OUR TIME TO SHINE SHAWTY!!!!! Welcome to the beginning of our Happy Ending!!!!"
Fans will be getting an intimate look at T.I.'s return to freedom in December thanks to a new show with VH1. In the still untitled series, viewers will get a behind-the-scenes look at T.I., and his wife Tameka "Tiny" Harris, as he tries to walk the straight and narrow and stay out of prison for good. The series is set to premiere on December 5 at 10 p.m.
Previously, T.I. had a reality series titled "T.I.'s Road to Redemption" that ran in 2009 on MTV. The show followed the MC as he provided guidance to teenagers on destructive paths while he himself prepared to serve a yearlong sentence for felony gun charges.

Beyonce's VMA History: From Dazzling Diva To Sasha Fierce
We look back on Queen B's impressive run before she hits the stage on Sunday.By Jocelyn Vena, with additional reporting by Rebecca Thomas

Beyoncé is not only up for three Moonmen at the 2011 Video Music Awards, she's also slated to storm the VMA stage live on Sunday night. But she's certainly no stranger to the big show.
The Queen B was still with her Destiny's Child girls — Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams — when she shared a win for Best R&B Video back in 2000. The group would go on to rack up 10 nominations and two statues over the course of their career.
By 2003, though, Beyoncé had gone solo, quickly proving she was a force to be reckoned with. And it was her performance at that year's awards ceremony that helped launch one of the most impressive VMA careers in the show's illustrious history. With just a day to go till B hits the stage, we're looking back on some of her most memorable moments!
Flirt With The Ladies 0f '11 With Our Interactive Time Machine
2003
B released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, in June, and she kicked things off with a bang by performing the first two singles from the record. Hitting the VMA stage upside down, B sang her Sean Paul collabo "Baby Boy," before Jay-Z joined her onstage for her breakthrough hit "Crazy in Love."
She went home that night with three out of four possible wins: Best Female Video, Best R&B Video and Best Choreography for her "Crazy in Love" clip. "I have to thank my foundation, Destiny's Child," B said when she accepted one of the Moonmen. "If it wasn't for Kelly and Michelle, I wouldn't be here."
2004
While she didn't perform when the VMAs traveled to Miami for the show's 20th anniversary, Beyoncé once again landed a slew of nominations (five to be exact), including multiple nods for her sultry "Naughty Girl" and one for the dramatic "Me, Myself and I" video. "Naughty Girl" pulled out on top, giving her one VMA that year for Best Female Video.
B had a special date that night too: then-rumored boyfriend Jay-Z got a rare public shout-out from the singer when she closed her BFV acceptance speech by saying, "What up, Jay?"
2006
With sirens blaring, Beyoncé hit the stage wearing a trench coat over a black leather leotard for a frantic performance of "Ring the Alarm." Midway through her set, a group of officers rush the stage, apparently to take her into custody, but B and her trench coat-wearing dancers just kept it moving for a fiercely choreographed breakdown.
Officially released in October, "Ring the Alarm" was the second single from her second solo album, B'Day, and didn't qualify for that year's noms. But she still managed to take home some hardware. "Wow! I wasn't expecting this," she said, accepting the Best R&B Video award for the "Pink Panther"-themed "Check on It," featuring Slim Thug.
2007
The VMAs were all about trying new categories, including Female Artist of the Year, Quadruple Threat of the Year and Most Earth Shattering Collaboration. Beyoncé got nods for the first two categories, and she shared the Earth-Shattering Collaboration Moonman with Shakira for their "Beautiful Liar" duet.
But that wasn't all. Beyoncé competed in two other categories: Best Choreography and Best Editing. And while she was also up for Video of the Year for "Irreplaceable," she lost to Jay-Z and his then up-and-coming protégé Rihanna for "Umbrella."
2009
"Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" earned Beyoncé nine nods and three wins. Backed by an army of female backup dancers, she performed the massive hit, dancing the Bob Fosse-inspired routine that inspired all those YouTube tribute videos.
Of course, who could forget how she inadvertently got caught up in the Kanye West/ Taylor Swift incident, after Kanye interrupted the teen singer onstage to declare that B's video was more deserving of Best Female Video than Swift's "You Belong With Me."
Beyoncé decided to right that wrong, however, when she accepted her Video of the Year award for "Single Ladies." The star asked Swift to come back to the stage and finish her acceptance speech for Best Female Video. "I remember being 17 years old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child, and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment," B said.
2010
Queen B had done two collabos with Lady Gaga — her own "Video Phone" and Gaga's "Telephone" — and both were up for a number of awards. While B's Hype Williams-directed video nabbed five noms, including Best Female Video, it failed to win any hardware. However, the thrice-nominated "Telephone" grabbed a Moonman for Best Collaboration.
Will Beyoncé take home a few more Moonmen this year? Will she have fans buzzing after yet another eye-popping performance? All will be answered on Sunday when the VMAs kick off at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for Best New Artist by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

Britney Spears Hosts As Ke$ha, Jennifer Lopez, More Bring Wango Tango To L.A.

LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears makes headlines at concerts, even when she's not performing. That's probably why Los Angeles radio station KIIS FM tapped the pop princess to guest-host their annual Wango Tango music festival along with Ryan Seacrest on Saturday night at the Staples Center.
The bill was a balance of pop and hip-hop, with acts like Ke$ha, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Selena Gomez, "Glee" 's Matthew Morrison, Lupe Fiasco, T-Pain, Jason Derülo, Far East Movement, New Boyz, Cobra Starship and newcomer Cody Simpson.
Backstage, the media room went into a frenzy when Spears arrived in a red, geometric-print dress and a beaming smile. Owning her "femme fatale" moniker, Spears worked the carpet for a few moments while all of the cameras in the room were pointing at her. It was the second red carpet appearance by Brit this week, after her Beverly Hills benefit on Wednesday night for the St. Bernard Project.
Check out photos from Wango Tango 2011.
Spears' Femme Fatale collaborator Ke$ha, who was returning to the festival for the second time, said that an onstage collab between to the two would have to require one thing.
"That would have to include me finding her and attacking her," Ke$ha told MTV News, with the best intentions. "I'm planning on pouncing her."
While that never happened, at least not onstage, Ke$ha delivered on her promise of a set heavy on her glitter gun. And she assured us she knew the dos and don'ts of handling that kind of firepower.
"Do not spray yourself in the face with it," she said. "Do spray everybody else with it. That's pretty much it."
While Joe Jonas wasn't performing at the show, he took a break from recording his solo debut to catch up with almost everyone backstage.
"I didn't see Britney backstage, just said 'hello' to a couple of my friends," Jonas said. "Backstage is always [full of] people, especially having it at the Staples Center this time, I think compared to all the way out in the desert, it changes everything."
Also happy to have Wango Tango in Los Angeles were locals Far East Movement.
"Man, we grew up literally a few blocks away from here, and you can only imagine basketball games being played here," Kev Nish said. "So to come in here as performers, to be able to do our songs in this arena is a little crazy. We used to pass out CDs a few blocks [away], so we're very thankful. And the lineup is nuts, so we're extremely excited to be a part of this lineup."

T.I. To Be Released Wednesday, Sources Say
Tip will head to a halfway house one month before his 11-month parole-violation sentence is up.By Alvin Blanco

T.I. is going to be a free man in just a couple of days. Sources have confirmed that the Atlanta rapper, currently serving an 11-month sentence in Forrest City Correctional Facility in Georgia for a parole violation after an L.A. drug arrest, will be released to a halfway house on August 31. Tip will be walking out of jail about a month early, with his original release date listed as September 29 in public records.
The Grand Hustle honcho, born Clifford Harris, Jr., should be ready to get back to the business of making music soon after his release.
T.I.'s Smash company partner, producer La Mar "Mars" Edwards, is eager to reunite with Tip in the studio. "He let me know, 'I got your back and stay close to me, you're my brother,' " said Mars, who just produced Game's The R.E.D. Album. "Ever since then, he's really treated me like a little brother. He'll call me to talk about life. It's more to it than me being his production partner and having Smash Factory."
And T.I.'s friend and collaborator DJ Drama also recently revealed that T.I. is working on a book. "8/31 -- #kingback. @Tip," Drama tweeted on Monday (August 29).
While serving his sentence, the King has been keeping fans updated via his TrapMuzik.com website. In his latest entry, the "Live Your Life"
rapper revealed that it would be his final blog post since he expected to be released in September.
In that message, T.I. revealed that he planned to have his new music hearken back to material from his earlier days. "Next time you hear from me, I'll be back out there with you," he wrote. "Doing for those who can't do for themselves and speaking for those whose voices are never heard. When I touch down, I'm going all the way back to square one, like I'm fresh in the game and never sold a record. Back on some I'M SERIOUS, TRAP MUZIK sh--. ... But until then RESPECT to all who deserve it."
The well-wishes he received from family, friends and fans inspired T.I. to sponsor a Memorial Day bus trip that brought the families of 14 inmates up for a visit who otherwise would not be able to.
Although authorities in Los Angeles eventually dropped the drug charges against T.I., he was still found guilt of violating the parole terms stemming from his 2007 felony weapons charge.

Lady Gaga Surpasses Oprah, Beyonce On Forbes' Most Powerful Women List
Pop singer nabs the #11 spot, the highest celebrity placement in the lineup.By James Dinh
Lady Gaga
Photo: WireImage
Lady Gaga is officially the world's most powerful female celebrity, at least according to Forbes, which released its World's 100 Most Powerful Women list on Thursday (August 25). On a list primarily dominated by politicians and CEOs, Mother Monster grabs the #11 spot on the coveted ranking, besting all other celebrity figures including friends and collaborators Oprah Winfrey and Beyoncé Knowles.
While familiar faces like Hillary Clinton (#2) and Michelle Obama (#8) fill up the top 10 tier of the ranking, the Forbes list remains slim on entertainment bigwigs. Former queen of daytime talk Oprah Winfrey appears shortly after Video Music Awards opener Gaga, ranking at #14, followed by Beyoncé at #18.
Other celebrity power runners include: Angelina Jolie (#29), Diane Sawyer (#47), Queen Elizabeth II (#49), Ellen DeGeneres (#55), Gisele Bündchen (#60), Anna Wintour (#69), J.K. Rowling (#61) and Ann Curry (#66).
With her colossal first-week sales for Born This Way, prominent social media presence and avalanche of endorsement deals like her just-announced partnership with Barneys New York, it's hard to deny Gaga's recent reign.
In an interview with Howard Stern earlier this summer, the "You and I" singer opened up to the famed Sirius radio host about her influence in the industry, saying, "Do I feel like a powerful person in show business? Yeah."
Gaga also touched on the financial perks of her hard work, saying, "I really don't give a f--- about money at all. ... The Monster Ball was really expensive and the next show will be really expensive, and I will pay for it."

Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj And Ke$ha 'Till The World Ends' Remix Leaks
Reworked tune features an opening verse by Minaj as Ke$ha sings atop Spears' vocals throughout the song.By James Dinh

Britney Spears isn't the only pop titan dancing until the world ends: Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha have joined forces to add a new spin on an all-female remix of Femme Fatale's second single, "Till the World Ends."
The reworked dance anthem, which leaked online Friday (April 22), appears to have surfaced earlier than expected as noted by a series of countdowns on all three of the stars' websites.
Mixing the dance tune's original sonic swirls with heavier bass, Britney tourmate Minaj starts off the remix by throwing down an aggressive verse, in which she calls out a female hater: "A-A-A-A-A-AYE!/ Chimpanzees is hatin', but I take it all in stride/ Put her in a jungle with bananas on the side/ Told you they'd revive your career, but somebody lied/ I ain't talkin' poultry when I say this chicken's fried."
After Minaj spits a few introductory bars, Spears delivers the song's first verse before an introduction for the all-star trio. "It's Britney, bitch. I'm Nicki Minaj and that's Ke$ha!" the Young Money MC proclaims.
Ke$ha, who originally wrote the track for the pop princess, takes part in singing the club-ready track's chorus. Spears soon takes back control of the song as Ke$ha shadows the singer's lines toward the end of the second verse and bridge. Unlike the original version, the "Till the World Ends" remix also features a stuttering dubstep dance break.
News of a star-studded collaboration was hinted earlier this week when producer Dr. Luke tweeted, "@NICKIMINAJ killed it tonight!!!! thanks!!!"

Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, John Paul Jones Unveil Supergroup
Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.By James Montgomery

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.
To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.
According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.
Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).
The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis.
It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.
Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.

'Jersey Shore' Stars Escape 'No Joke' Hurricane Irene For VMAs
'I was not missing the VMAs for nothing,' Pauly D tells MTV News.By Eric Ditzian
Sammi, Ronnie, Pauly D and Vinny
Photo: MTV News
As Hurricane Irene bore down on the East Coast and the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards heated up on the West, "Jersey Shore" stars Snooki, Vinny, Deena and Sammi hopped a last-minute private jet from New Jersey to Los Angeles. Nothing was going to stop them from missing the VMAs.
"We had to get out here for the VMAs," Vinny told MTV News hours after touching down in Los Angeles. "MTV did whatever they could to get us out here. We wouldn't miss it for the world."
His pal Pauly D, meanwhile, had been safely kicking back in Oklahoma City after an earlier brush with the hurricane in North Carolina while touring with Britney Spears. "Irene got nothing on my blowout," he declared, while acknowledging the storm poses a serious risk to the public.
"I was nervous. This storm's no joke," he said. "Immediately I texted Vinny, because I didn't think we were going to make it. ... I thought I was going to have to fill in for everybody. I can't talk for everybody. I talk a lot. But it was no joke, and I was not missing the VMAs for nothing. Seriously, I was coming here. I didn't care how I was coming here, but I was going to make it."
It's no doubt going to be a big night for the "Shore" kids. The highly anticipated episode showcasing the resolution of Ronnie's dustup with the Situation is set to air at 7 p.m. ET immediately before the VMA Pre-Show. And as soon as "Jersey Shore" ends, the cast will be making their way down the VMA Pre-Show black carpet and settling into prime seats for the main event. But while they kick back and enjoy all the VMA craziness, they'll be thinking of their friends and family back home.
"Our prayers go out for everyone on the East Coast," Vinny said. "We're looking out for them, but I think they're going to be all right."
The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday from Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for Best New Artist by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

'Hunger Games' VMA First Look: An Exclusive Photo!
Before Jennifer Lawrence introduces exclusive glimpse at Sunday's show, we offer up a sneak peek.By Kara Warner
Jennifer Lawrence in "Hunger Games"
Photo: Lions Gate
All right, "Hunger Games" fans: There are only a few short days until we present the first-ever look at the upcoming film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling dystopian novel.
The exclusive glimpse of the film will debut during Sunday's VMAs, to be introduced by star Jennifer Lawrence. It will also be available exclusively on MTV.com.
In an effort to make your wait a little less painful — or more so, depending on how you feel about teaser photos — we are pleased to offer this exclusive still photo from the first look that will debut during the VMAs. The snapshot features heroine Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) captured in a moment of extreme intensity, mid-sprint. Those who know how the plot unfolds in the books might venture to guess that Katniss is in the midst of a fight to the death in the Hunger Games. We hope we'll see more of this when the footage debuts Sunday night.
Until then, take a look back at the photos we've seen so far of Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in action, as well as what Lawrence had to say about the coveted role when we spoke to her about it back in May.
"I was a fan of the books before I really knew about the movies," Lawrence told MTV News, adding that she'd be working her butt off to get into character. "It's lots of training, but the training's actually really fun. I've done archery for about six weeks and rock climbing, tree climbing — and combat, running and vaulting. But also yoga and things like that, to stay catlike!"

Justin Bieber Says Selena Gomez Has 'Relatable, Girl-Next-Door' Appeal
'She's a very nice girl,' he tells MTV News at the Teen Choice Awards.By Kara Warner

Although Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are reluctant to publicly discuss the details of their romance, they are far less shy about showing support for each other in the form of surprise concert appearances, tweets and words of appreciation and encouragement.
When MTV News caught up with Bieber at the Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, just before he took home three of the coveted surfboards for Choice Male Artist, Choice Male Hottie and Choice TV Villain, we asked him which of the evening's musical acts he was looking forward to between Gomez, Jason Derülo and OneRepublic.
"Best performance of the night, Selena Gomez," he boldly predicted of his lady friend's yet-to-be-seen performance of "Love You Like a Love Song," which, coincidentally enough, went on to take home the award for Choice Love Song. (Gomez also won awards for Choice Female Hottie, Choice TV Actress Comedy, Choice Music Group and Choice Music Single for "Who Says.")
Check out hot red carpet photos from the Teen Choice Awards.
Bieber went on to say that it's easy to admire the "Wizards of Waverly Place" actress because she's a down-to-earth, genuine person.
"I feel like she's relatable to a lot of different teenagers. She's kind of girl-next-door; she's real cool. She's very nice," he said with a smile. "She's a very nice girl."
After Bieber spoke to MTV News, Gomez and her band the Scene provided the screaming masses in attendance with a rousing rendition of their breakout ballad. Gomez wore a leg-baring gown, adding in some throwback glam with a veiled headpiece.

Ke$ha Touched By Fan's Tattoo
Singer tells MTV News about gay fan inspired by her song 'Animal.'By Gil Kaufman

Ke$ha knows all about the perks of being a headliner. On her Get $leazy Tour, the singer gets to call all the shots, blast her fans in the face with tons of glitter and handpick which dudes she wants to party and share the stage with.
But it's not all backstage shenanigans and groupie love. When MTV News sat down with the "Blow" singer in New York earlier this week before her gig at Roseland Ballroom, Ke$ha said that amid the nightly onstage parties there have also been some poignant moments on her first headlining outing.
"Best moment? There are so many. Every night's amazing. I have kids outside right now chanting my name and it's awesome," she said of the first leg of the tour. "There was one night a fan came onstage, I invited him onstage, and he had a tattoo of the dollar sign. I was like, 'Oh, that's awesome! Badass. You're part of the cult, man.' "
And then, she said, he began to cry and explained that he was able to come out of the closet to his friends and family thanks to her song "Animal."
"And I'm standing onstage about to sing a song about growing back a pair of testicles ["Grow a Pear"] and I had tears rolling down my face and chills all over my body," she said. "Because that's really the reason I do music, to inspire people to be themselves."
Ke$ha has been a vocal supporter of the "It Gets Better" video project, which aims to help gay, bisexual and transgender youth find hope in the face of teasing and bullying.
The "Get $leazy" juggernaut continues on Saturday night with a show at Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania.

Anne Hathaway's 'Dark Knight Rises' Prep: YouTube Cat Videos?
'I actually had this moment when I convinced one of the assistant directors on the London portion of the film to get a cat with me,' actress tells MTV News.By Eric Ditzian

If you're not happy with that early peek at Anne Hathaway's Catwoman, perhaps you should blame Keyboard Cat.
Because as the "Dark Knight Rises" actress revealed in Interview magazine, she prepped for the role by turning to feline-focused web videos, after her initial plan to adopt one of the furry creatures fell through.
"I actually had this moment when I convinced one of the assistant directors on the London portion of the film to get a cat with me, the idea being that we were going to get a kitten from a rescue shelter, and he was going to live with me, and I was going to observe it, and when I left London, I was going to give it to her," Hathaway explained. "Then, thankfully, her husband pointed out that that was a terrible idea on so many levels, not least of which being that it would probably be really confusing to the cat."
She added, "So I turned to YouTube instead and got a National Geographic video on cats."
OK, so while the influence of OMG cats and talking cats and cats that wrestle watermelons may not be discernable in the first look at Hathaway's Catwoman, there's no denying the reaction to her "Dark Knight" debut was mixed. But when the 28-year-old actress revealed what it takes to fit into that suit, you had to give her a round of applause.
"I'm a vegetarian, and right now I'm living on kale and dust," she said on "Chelsea Lately" on Wednesday, adding that it takes three people to squeeze her into the costume. "Catsuit's unforgiving."
And since the production lasts for months and months, she's had to maintain that strict diet and those intense workouts, lest her Catwoman come in for even more unwanted attention. The key to making it all happen is that, after initially hating hitting the gym, she finally enjoys getting in her workouts.
"I think I'd never really gotten over the hump," she said. "There's a workout hump where you're so weak that you hate everything. Everything's painful and you look like an idiot. The gym that I work out at, I was literally working out next to a pregnant Jessica Alba and she could do more pushups than I could."
Check out everything we've got on "The Dark Knight Rises."

Sean Kingston Details 'Life-Or-Death' Accident
'What the accident basically taught me is, in life, you have to count your blessings,' he says during 'MTV First: Sean Kingston.'By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway
Sean Kingston
Photo: MTV News
Sean Kingston sat down with MTV News on Tuesday night (August 2) and opened up for the first time about the jet-ski accident that landed him in the hospital. During "MTV First: Sean Kingston," the singer spoke candidly with Sway Calloway at his house in Miami about the day that changed his life forever, letting fans know that months after his jet ski crashed into a bridge near his home in Florida, he's now back and better than ever.
"I'm doing good. I'm feeling great. I'm excited. I'm happy," he said. "A lot of people don't know it was a deeper situation. I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries; it was a life-or-death situation."
Kingston — the Jamaican-American singer who broke onto the scene with the "Stand by Me"-sampling song "Beautiful Girls" and scored another hit with the Justin Bieber collabo "Eenie Meenie" last year — was rushed to the hospital May 29 after a jet-ski crash. He explained to Sway that he was going about 35 miles an hour when he miscalculated how high the tide had risen and collided with a bridge.
The singer revealed for the first time in the sit-down that just as he was being released from the hospital for injuries related to the crash, he was rushed into surgery to deal with a newly discovered heart condition. "They were gonna send me home, but then I had felt a pain in my left chest, and I told my mom," he explained. "They rushed me and they did a lot of scans on me, [and] they said I couldn't leave."
It was discovered that blood had filled up in his chest and his aorta was torn. He went into surgery several times to fix the condition, knowing that the risks were high, but he survived, and now he's focused on the positive. "I'm 100 percent right now," he said. "I've been in the house chilling, about to start work on my new album. I got L.A. Reid now as my new president. I got a story to tell now."
Kingston isn't taking his new lease on life lightly. "What the accident basically taught me is, in life, you have to count your blessings," he said. "You just got to keep God present at all times and think about the consequences."
During the chat, Kingston opened up about the details of the accident, talked about the support he's received from celebrity pals like Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, his new music and finally getting the chance to meet the man who saved him after he crashed. MTV News will be rolling out more from the interview with Kingston, who thanked his fans for all their support after the accident.
